Going Overboard with the Napoleons
Filed in Appetizer, Dinner, Gluten Free, Vegetarian, lunch, 06/03/2010, 17:15Another Napoleon Post!! This could make a nice casserole, maybe with some kale sandwiched between the squash layers. My butternut squash are all frilly thanks to my wavy knife. If you’ve got some fresh herbs, like parsley, throw them in with the goat cheese, too.

Filed in Appetizer, Gluten Free, Vegan, Vegetarian, 02/03/2010, 20:20I have some Nori to use up and figured I would try and incorporate it into some snack food. I have plenty of hummus, which surprisingly goes quite well with Nori! Add whatever sliced veggies you want- and aybe a slice of feta or halloumi (!!).

Stuffed Globe Artichokes
Filed in Appetizer, Dinner, Vegetarian, 27/02/2010, 21:22Hotel Meal # 2, all microwavable! I never understood the concept of stuffing artichokes- it seemed fruitless to me. What’s the point of going through the trouble of such a fiddley process if you are only going to eat the ends of the leaves. After tonight, I understood. The cheese melts, [...]
Kohlrabi, Butternut Squash and Potato Latkes
Filed in Appetizer, Dinner, Gluten Free, Vegan, Vegetarian, 25/02/2010, 19:58You can pretty much make latkes, rösti and râpés out of any root veggies you want, just make sure to drain out any extra liquid before hand by placing in a clean towel and ringing tightly. I’m not sure the difference, but supposedly latkes have eggs and röstis do not. So these are latkes, I [...]
Baked Goat Cheese in an Ancho Chile Red Sauce
Filed in Appetizer, Dinner, Gluten Free, Vegetarian, lunch, 24/02/2010, 23:41No post yesterday as the boyfriend had a tummy bug and therefore could not eat, so I didn’t want to tempt him with my delicious cooking.. ha! Look at that pot.. isn’t it charming? Most miniature things are. Even though it looks like Le Cresuet, it’s not- it’s Nouvelle something or other.
Today I used some [...]
Gruyere and Chive Gougères- the David Lebovitz recipe
Filed in Appetizer, Baking, Vegetarian, 15/02/2010, 16:36A while ago- around Thanksgiving, I posted my first attempt at Gougères. I followed a recipe from Eggs on Sunday that worked very well. Today I decided to try a different version, that of the famed-foodie known as David Lebovitz. His recipe doesn’t require milk and is less eggy. The Gougères are firmer and crunchier, [...]
Valentines Weekend- Lemon butter artichokes and Spaghetti with Slow Roasted Cherry Tomatoes
Filed in Appetizer, Dinner, Meal Plans, Vegan, Vegetarian, , 16:17This weekend we retreated to the Chesapeake Bay, because our lives are so stressful. But in all honesty, job hunting gets depressing so we went away, bought lots of yummy food, and watched Harry Potter. There are no weekend egg pots this week as I got breakfast in bed.
For dinner on [...]
Potato and Leek Soup
Filed in Appetizer, Dinner, Gluten Free, Soup, Vegetarian, 31/01/2010, 11:30Potato and Leek Soup is one of my favourite soups, ever. It’s simple to make, serve with some cheesy toasts and fresh parsley. Last night I also made goat cheese, onion, mushroom and sun dried tomato tartelettes, I had left over mushroom and onions which I arranged on top of the soup, they were sauteed [...]
Baby Bok Choy Parcels
Filed in Appetizer, Dinner, Vegetarian, 10/01/2010, 23:18It’s been a cold weekend, and we had a nice lazy weekend eating soup and comfort food, and lying by the fire:
We braved the cold and went to the Harrisonburg Farmer’s Market, where we opted to buy some Bok Choy. Based on the size, I’m going to say it’s Baby Bok Choy, as it is [...]
Soysage Rolls
Filed in Appetizer, Vegetarian, 09/01/2010, 15:41Getting a sausage roll from the bakery on Saturday mornings with my mum and sis used to be one of my weekly highlights. We would have swimming lessons in the morning at Meadway (? is that right kay? Central?), then go to the bakery for a treat, followed by the newsagent for 2 pieces of [...]
